This authentic plant-based yakitori is the perfect take on a Japanese favorite!
2 LB Blackbird Seitan Wings
1 tbsp cooking sake
1 tbsp mirin
3 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp brown sugar
1-2 tsp Cornstarch
2 garlic cloves, grated
½ tsp fresh ginger, grated
Splash of sesame oil
Shichimi pepper seasoning (optional)
Defrost the seitan and cut into small pieces. Set aside to prepare marinade
Peel & grate the garlic and ginger
In a bowl, whisk together the cooking sake, mirin, soy sauce, brown sugar, cornstarch, garlic, ginger sesame oil, and the shichimi pepper seasoning
Bring the marinade to a boil. Once heated, pour over the seitan and allow it to marinate. The longer marinated, the better! (Preferably overnight)
After marinating, add the seitan to skewers.
To cook, add them to a grill or stovetop grill. Cook until golden brown or to desired crisp.
